Ingredients
Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cube margarine
- 2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda, add to milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vinegar, add to milk
Frosting
- 1 cube margarine
- 1/3 cup milk
- 3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup (if desired) chopped nuts
Instructions
Cake
- Mix flour and sugar in bowl.
- Place in saucepan margarine, cocoa, shortening, and water and bring just to boil, stirring.
- Add to flour & sugar and mix well.
- Add eggs, vanilla, and milk and mix until smooth.
- Grease and flour large pan 10” by 15” and pour in batter.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Frosting
- Start about 5 minutes before cake is done.
- Heat in microwave margarine, milk, and cocoa until margarine melts.
- Remove and stir in 4 cups powdered sugar, vanilla p, and chopped nuts if desired.
- Spread in cake when it comes from the oven.
